    From Athlete to Coach

Posted by Shannon at 4:45 am in Coaching, General, Outdoors | Comment (1)

I am embarking on a very new expedition.
I am becoming an assistant coach for my old high school rifle team.
The rifle team at my Alma mater is more than just a sport to me, it’s a family dynasty. My mom is the head coach of the team and has built up a great program in the last 7 years. We started the team my freshman year of high school when my friends and I noticed that there was a spot for .22 caliber indoor rifle on the sport physical form. We were all involved in 4-H during middle school, shooting air rifles and pistols at the local indoor range, so it just seemed like the natural thing to do. We had a lot of parental support, and slowly we learned by trial and error how to run the team the best way possible. Now we’ve got it down to a science. Read more…

I recently celebrated my first, first anniversary in dating history. Which is a much bigger deal to me than it probably should be. Read more…

    Yay Thursday!

Posted by Shannon at 4:56 am in General | No Comments

I am so looking forward to tomorrow. My favorite day of the week has always been Thursday, first because I had gymnastics on Thursdays when I was in elementary school, and then because I had gymnastics and ER was on, and now, well, because it’s habit.
And because Grey’s Anatomy is on.
And because it’s Thirsty Thursday. Read more…

    A few things worth noting

Posted by Shannon at 10:21 pm in General | Comment (1)

#1) Ani Difranco announced her winter tour, Friday I’m buying tickets to the Ithaca show, I’m so excited!
#2) I’ve updated my 101 about me page, numbers 1-89 are now up.
#3) I found this great blog detailing one bloggers journey through the babysitter’s club books! Hysterical. I loved those books when I was young, I started with #4 because I liked the cover (It was a Mary-Anne book and I thought she looked like me).  I also dressed up as Claudia for school in 4th grade, we had to come as our favorite character from a book, and I thought her fashion sense was killer. I think I have a photo somewhere, if I find it I’ll let you all see the horror of ruffled blouses and pantaloon jumpers. And crimped hair.
#4) I need more blogs on my blog roll! Friends? Please?
#5) I’ve realized, much to my chagrin, that due to my New Mexico trip my Christmas shopping time has been reduced to the next 30 days. Bah.

    Carry on.

    IrishChic626, if you’re wondering

Posted by Shannon at 8:16 pm in General | No Comments

Wow, talk about a walk down memory lane. I just finished reading my old xanga. Haha. Wow. It was interesting, there are entries that talk about things I’ve completely forgotten, but then there are others that I can remember the exact thought process that was going through my head at the time. The Universe Demands New Mexico

Posted by Shannon at 1:50 am in General | Comment (1)

Now, I’ve always been the type to believe that you can change your own destiny, but I’ve always given the universe the benefit of the doubt. Which is to say that I believe one shouldn’t overlook any options presented to you, but you have to be the one to make the decisions. I also believe there are certain occasions where the universe, for whatever reason, leads you to very unexpected situations.

Like elk hunting in New Mexico.

    Never Fear, Jill is Here.

Posted by Shannon at 4:31 am in General | No Comments

Dear Blog-readers. I apologize for my lack of postings, keeping up with life seems to make typing about it a little more challenging. Partner this with my devotion to another blog and poor Jill gets pushed to the wayside.
Have no fear readers, I am back and brimming with excitement to talk about.
I’ve decided, I think, to approach this blog a bit differently than I have in the past. I’ll still be on the lookout for more “article-y” post ideas, but what this blog is really supposed to do is inform you on how to handle everything in a busy life, and what better way to do that than share with you my busy life!

    Come Sail Away

I recently returned from a five day cruise with my boyfriend, a trip that included two different firsts for me, number 1: the first time I’ve traveled alone with a significant other, and 2: the first time I did my own travel arrangements. Read more…

“Worry is the misuse of imagination”

Posted by Shannon at 4:24 am in General | No Comments

    How true.
This statement, viewed on a church sign this past weekend stuck with me more than my personal favorite “God accepts knee-mail”.  Probably because I worry needlessly more than anyone I know. I’m a self-admitted worry wort and being a female raised in American culture, I’m also insecure. Read more…
