“You smell like old people, and soap.”

Last night Boyfriend and I went to his Barbershop Christmas party.
There were so many things wrong with this picture I don’t even know where to begin.
I supposed the beginning is a good spot.

Ok, this party is at this fancy schmancy place with two levels. Our party was on the ground level and, I found out later, a local high school was having their winter formal upstairs.
We walk into our party and drop off our toy (for tots) and Boyfriend introduces me to all his singing cronies. Besides the two of us, every other person in the joint is collecting social security. Yup. It’s us and the old people.
What’s even better is the party upstairs is blaring “Baby Got Back,” “I Got it From My Momma,” and “Sexy Back.” We can make out some of the words, but the old people just hear the booming bass. “What’s with this music today?” They say, to no one in particular. “It’s all boom, boom, boom. You can’t dance to it, you can’t sing to it, what’s the point?” Oh old people. How I love to make fun of you.
During the course of our dinner we heard how our generation is going to be deaf by the time  we reach 40, how irresponsible we are with cell phones, how awful we are at driving (mostly due to cell phones), the ridiculousness of text messaging, and the five different names for  “Piggies in a blanket.”

Just thought I’d share that wondrous evening with you all. Now I must be off, we’re leaving for New Mexico tomorrow and I have packing to do.
I expect a full day’s worth of google reader feeds when I return!

    Have a very happy holiday!

lol… funny thing is we will have the exact same conversation, with different topics, with the next generation … it is a right of passage!

Have a good trip! And I’m with NerdGirl- I’m sure we will have our own lectures to give the young generation when we are old. I hope they are about how awful they all are when it comes to driving their flying machines.

Because, yes, I’m a nerd who still fantasizes about flying machines in the future.
